Victor Potter - Organist and Director of Music

Victor is a Fellow of the North and Midlands School of Music (FNMSM), has a certificate in musical and liturgical studies from the Royal School of Church Music (Cert RSCM), a Fellow of the Academy of St Cecilia (FASC) and a Licentiate of the Guild of Musicians and Singers (LGMS). He is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (Performers and Composers Section) and the Royal Musical Association. Previous church appointments include St Martin's, Dorking, the home church of the late Ralph Vaughan Williams, and St Michael and All Angels, Brighton.

Victor is presently engaged on doctoral research into the origins and early development of seventeenth century Roman Oratorio at the University of Sussex. He has a particular interest in Italian sacred music of that period.

He is Director of the Sussex Church Music Foundation, and a member of the Sussex Area Committee of the Royal School of Church Music. He has given organ recitals at The Meeting House, University of Sussex, at various churches in the Brighton Festival Fringe and elsewhere.

Victor is available for professional tuition for organ and music theory and as a freelance recitalist, accompanist, choral conductor and workshop leader.

Sarah Potter - Junior Choir Leader.

Sarah is responsible for the Junior Choir at St Mary's. She is an experienced singer, known for her recitals in the Brighton Festival Fringe, the Eastbourne Festival and elsewhere. She is also an accomplished author and playwright, and recently wrote the words and music and produced her mystery play 'Dust to Glory' at St Mary's, the cast of which included members of the choir!

Sarah also holds a Higher Education Certificate in Theology from the Open Theological College.
